CARE AND CLEANING OF CORK PRODUCTS

Cork is an ideal natural leather alternative for handbags and wallets. Cork textile is obtained from the bark of the cork oak. Thus, cork textile also has the wonderful advantages of tree bark. Cork is water-repellent and moisture-resistant against wet and rain. In contrast to leather products, which soak up water and form water marks, drops of water roll off cork textiles.

Another advantage over leather: To keep leather supple and not look worn, leather has to be greased regularly. This is not the case with cork fabric.

But just like leather, cork reacts to its environment. Sometimes the cork darkens after prolonged use and skin contact. Due to the grain, bumps can develop during use. That is normal. Cork fabric “lives” with use, like other natural textiles, and changes over time.

CLEANING CORK BAGS AND PURSES

Should you ever want to clean your cork bag or your cork wallet: Cork textile can be cleaned with a clean cloth, a little mild washing-up liquid and water.

When cleaning, you should under no circumstances use cleaning agents that are aggressive or corrosive or that attack the surfaces. Impregnating agents should also not be used for cork textiles, as this can endanger the water-repellent surface of the cork fabric.

This is how you can proceed when cleaning our vegan bags and wallets :

  1. It is sufficient to wipe the cork textile lightly with a clean cloth with a little mild washing-up liquid and water.
  2. For coarser soiling, you can also wash the cork products gently by hand.
  3. After washing, hang up the bag and let it dry naturally.
  4. After that, your cork bag will be like new!

We hope you enjoy your cork bag or wallet!
